888.com Casino CEO John Anderson Resigns

The CEO for the online casino 888.com, John Anderson, will resign this December after six years with the company. Anderson said that his resignation was in no way related to the recent sports betting debacle in the U.S. or to the pending anti-gambling legislation.

"If I was concerned about the U.S., I would not stay on the board of directors at 888," and claimed that it was simply "time to bring in some new eyes."

Anderson plans to continue as a non-executive director with 888 after his successor, chief operating officer Gigi Levy, takes the reigns in December. Anderson is also the current chairman of Burford Holdings plc and a board member of eCOGRA and IGC.

888.com was originally founded in 1997 in the British Virgin Islands under the name Virtual Holdings Limited and then launched Casino on Net later that same year. Since that time, 888.com has become the largest online casino in the world having serviced over 13 million players. The company headquarters is now located in Gibraltar where it operates under an EU gaming license and the code of conduct of the Interactive Gaming Council.
